Knights of Columbus Letter

Subject: Knights of Columbus, Council 783 – Annual Right to Life Event

Dear Parishioners,
“Right to Life” encompasses core principles of Christianity at the most basic level. It challenges us to protect life as created by God, by reaching out to help those in need. It means protecting and caring for both our children, from inception – when most vulnerable, to our parents through their aging years. It means giving “Dignity to All” by extending our love and care for others beyond our immediate family, to all of God’s beloved.
With Christmas still in our hearts, it’s easy to recall the birth of Christ not only for the example of Mary’s and Joseph’s care and love for the infant Christ, but for God’s great love for us. As Christians, we should seek to live by Christ’s example and words, in protecting the “Sanctity of Life”
There are many ways for each of us to choose how we want to protect life. These include prayers, donations and actions. Only you can know what is right for you; and only you will know that you did (or did not do) the best you could.
Saturday and Sunday January 16th & 17th the Knights of Columbus (Council 783) will be at the doors of the church to accept your donations for our annual Right to Life collection (traditionally known as The Rose Sale). Donations collected are given to our local charities dedicated to helping expectant mothers choosing to give birth to their child. The love and care that your donation provides for these mothers, at a difficult time that can be extremely scary for them, is truly an act of Christians caring for others.
This year, in addition to the church door collection, your contribution may be made through checks payable to the Knights of Columbus, Council 783 and mailed to the rectory. (Please note on the memo area; “KOC-Right to Life”). Alternatively, you can donate directly through the K of C website at: https://koc783-right-to-life.square.site/ [Note if link does not respond, simply cut and paste in your browser]
Charitable donations have generally decreased as a result of COVID-19, and the charities we support greatly appreciate your generosity. Last year, in aggregate we gave our charities $3,200, including Several Sources, Birth Haven, Raphael’s Life House and Life Choices Resources. Remember 100% of your donation goes directly to these charities!
While our local Council 783 (Berkeley Heights, New Providence and Summit) is focused on supporting local charities, The Knights of Columbus (State and Home Office) also provides ultrasound machines for Christian organizations throughout NJ helping women make critical life choices, as well as funding for care of the elderly.
God Bless You and Your Entire Family!
Sincerely,
Knights of Columbus, Council 783

PS: THE ANNUAL RIGHT FOR LIFE MARCH IS ON FRIDAY JANUARY 29th
On Friday January 29th, thousands of caring people will join in The Right For Life March in Washington, DC.
The theme of this year’s march is: ”Together Strong: Life Unites”. This is particularly appropriate as over the next 4 years, we will have the MOST pro-abortion administration to ever enter the White House. This year it is more important than ever, for everyone to speak up in prayer and actions to protect our most vulnerable – unborn children.
COVID-19 has presented new challenges in attending the March, and Council 783 will not participate, this year, in a bus trip to the March. We do suggest that you take a few extra minutes to pray for God’s help in winning the battle against abortion.
